Every year, during the third weekend of July (Wednesday until Sunday), Chalon sur Saône hosts one of the biggest street theater festivals in France. During these days, the streets of Chalon sur Saône become the back drop for theater shows, circus acts or even music concerts.

Chalon sur Saône est l'une des principales villes de Bourgogne. Seconde en taille après Dijon, elle est la principale agglomération de la Bourgogne du Sud. Ce n'est pourtant pas une ville qui en impose par sa taille. Bien au contraire, cette ville à cheval sur la Saône et qui compte un peu plus de 50.000 habitants se visite comme on visiterait un grand village.

Dominating the vineyards, this Rock is one of the most famous places in Southern Burgundy and is a real eye catcher in the Mâconnais region. If it weren’t for the vineyards, one could think that the Roche de Solutré had been taken out of the American wild west. The Castle of Cormatin was built during the 17th Century and is probably the most elegant Reaissance style castle of Southern Burgundy. Throughout history, some famous people like Lamartine and François Mitterand liked to come to Château de Cormatin. The former French president really enjoyed wandering in the beautiful gardens surrounding the castle.
