Just a few miles away from Chalon-sur-Saône and campsite Pont de Bourgogne, you’ll discover Tournus a pretty town famous for its romanesque abbey and its gourmet restaurants. Tournus has, indeed, several Michelin-stared restaurants. Definetly the good place to enjoy a very good meal in Burgundy.

Tournus’ abbey

Tournus’ abbey church Saint-Philibert is one of the most beautiful romanesque church not only in Burgundy but in the whole France. For a first sight on the abbey, you should go on the other side of the river (take the bridge in direction of Cuisery and turn left, you can easily park). There you can admire Tournus and its colorful houses reflecting in the water of the Saône river. Above the town, you see the tower of the Saint Philibert church. Back in the town center, you can visit the abbey church. Built between the 10th and 12th centuries, this church is very well preserved and is a pure marvel of romanesque art in Burgundy.
