The Pont de Bourgogne campsite is located on the banks of the River Saône, 20 minutes from the centre of Chalon-sur-Saône. From the campsite, you can explore the old town of Chalon and its photography museum. There are also plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. There’s no need to move your car to go shopping or eat in town. The rolling countryside around Chalon-sur-Saône invites you to take a stroll through the vineyards of Montagny, Givry and Santenay. Further south, the ascent of the famous Roche de Solutré offers magnificent views over the Mâconnais. Beaune and its glazed-roofed Hospices or Tournus and its superb Saint-Philibert abbey church will delight art and history lovers.

Campsite Chalon-sur-Saône
Birthplace of photography
Chalon-sur-Saône is a pretty medium-sized town whose old town stretches between the Place de l’Hôtel de Ville and the Place de la Cathédrale linked by the pedestrian quarter. The Place de la Cathédrale with its half-timbered houses dating from the 15ᵉ century is about 20 minutes’ walk from the Pont de Bourgogne campsite. As soon as the fine weather returns, the terraces of bars and restaurants set up here. It’s a pleasant place to spend an evening during your camping holiday in Chalon-sur-Saône. On the banks of the Saône awaits you at the photography museum, admission to which is free. A lovely visit not to be missed.
Restaurants in Chalon-sur-Saône
Traditional or exotic cuisine
Rue de Strasbourg is just 1 kilometre from the Pont de Bourgogne campsite. This street is home to several Chalonnais restaurants of all kinds. Whether you like traditional or exotic cuisine, there’s something for everyone. Our favourites include Les Gourmands Disent and Le Parcours, both of which offer refined cuisine to be enjoyed with a delicious Burgundy wine. If, however, you prefer Asian cuisine, we recommend the Japanese restaurant Idaya. If you wish, it can even deliver to the campsite. If you want to eat in the old town of Chalon-sur-Saône, there are a number of restaurants around the Place de la Cathédrale. Our favourite is Le Chai at 9 rue du blé. Please note that the terrace is small. It is advisable to book if you want to eat outside.
