Ville de naissance de la photographie

Chalon-sur-Saône is a pretty medium-sized town whose old town stretches between the Place de l’Hôtel de Ville and the Place de la Cathédrale linked by the pedestrian district. Place de la cathédrale, with its 15ᵉ century half-timbered houses, is about a 20-minute walk from the Pont de Bourgogne campsite. As soon as the fine weather returns, the terraces of bars and restaurants set up shop here. It’s a great place to spend an evening while camping in Chalon-sur-Saône. On the quays of the Saône, you’ll find the Museum of Photography, with free admission. A visit not to be missed.

Restaurants à Chalon-sur-Saône

Cuisine traditionnelle ou exotique

Rue de Strasbourg is just 1 kilometer from the Pont de Bourgogne campsite. This street is home to a wide range of Chalonnais restaurants. Whether you like traditional or exotic cuisine, there’s something for everyone. Among our favorite addresses, we recommend Les Gourmands Disentor Le Parcours, both of which offer refined cuisine to be savored in the company of a delicious Burgundy wine. If, however, you prefer Asian cuisine, we recommend the Japanese restaurant Idaya. If you wish, it can even deliver to the campsite. If you want to eat in the old town of Chalon-sur-Saône, you’ll find a number of restaurants around the cathedral square. Our favorite is Le Chai, 9 rue du blé. Please note that the terrace is small. Reservations are recommended if you wish to eat outside.
